The Foundation Sections

There are many sites that are viewed as full featured that contain only the items listed here as our foundation. As you read more you'll see why. But then we add all of the special sections and pages that really put the E-Government.com website over the top of the best sites on the web today.

What's on the Home Page?

The normal home page of an E-Government.com municipality contains either two or three columns. The left column has start with a site search box and is followed by a menu of choices often called the navigation bar. You can choose between the classic or the drop down style of menus. Both are ADA compliant. See the Site Tools section of our site for more information on compliance for people who are visually impaired.

The site administrator can add as much content as desired below the menus. This can include graphics, links to other parts of the site or to other sites and more.

In the site administrator's dashboard, you can choose to include a small calendar on the right column. If chosen, visitors can click on a date to view events, see all events for a period or view a full sized calendar with all the details. The administrator can also allow visitors to the site to submit requests to post additional events. Approving these requests takes just a single mouse click.

You can display the local weather, site access counts, polls and surveys and more.

In our page on Premium Modules, see the special sections on Priority and Emergency Messaging for more information on special features of the home page.

Beyond that, all of the other capabilities of the "Standard" page are also available on the home page.

The Standard Page

For most CMS solutions, a standard page is all you get. With E-Government.com, it's just one of many. Nonetheless, it's an important one. It's easy to post almost any kind of content. You can have bulleted or numbered lists. Text can be bold, highlighted, different colors and there are lots of other special effects you can include. Posting online forms from PDF's and Word files is incredibly easy. Adding pictures and other graphic effects is no problem. Even well formatted tables are part of our administrative functions.

The page you're viewing now is an example of an E-Governtment.com standard page.

Contact Us

All you have to to is enter the list of contacts you want to post on the site and they will display here in an easy to use format for easy reference.

Get to Us

Another special page format where you enter the address of all key municipal locations such as town hall, the police and fire departments, libraries, the historical society and more. The system automatically creates links to provide MapQuest directions to each location.

Photo Albums

It's easy to create your own albums here. Just upload your photos and choose which page to put them on. The system automatically creates thumbnails and a mouse click shows the full sized photo with your own headings and captions for each.

Feedback

This is the spam free way to allow site visitors to email information, questions and comments. You can have feedback forms for anyone who should be contacted for a web related item. Whatever is entered in the feedback form is delivered in an email without ever showing the email address on the site.

What's New

The two main features of the What's New pages are that the newest things are always automatically put on top and they are purged after three months to keep the what's new page fresh.

Related links

This module provides an easy way to enter links to related sites and place them in logical groups like county sites, state sites, utilities, etc.

Glossaries

As the name suggests, this page is formatted to help enter a glossary of terms.

Our People

These are great formats for the Mayor and Council section of a site and for other key people as well.

See the E-Government.com key people here.

Civic Associations and more

Enter lists of local civic associations, houses of worship and any other list of organizations you need. The system then displays an alphabetized list and even enables you to provide a separate page for each as desired. Or, you can easily link to their website.

FAQ's

The E-Government.com FAQ module supports dozens of questions or more. It starts with a list of user-definable categories. Visitors simply choose the category they want and then choose their question. They immediately see their answer.

If they can't find the question relating to their inquiry or if they do find it, they may still need more information. They just enter their question in the provided fill in form and an administrator receives an email with the question.

Also, to help with finding the FAQ, there is a special search that just searches the FAQ's.

To setup a new FAQ with an E-Government.com site, all you have to do is choose the category, and enter the question and the answer. All the rest happens automatically.
